Position : Event Cook - Award Winning Catering Company!
Summary / Objective
As an Event Cook, you will be responsible for producing consistent quality food products while following all safety, local and state sanitation guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for production according to recipes / directions
- Assist with food production
- Cut and clean a variety of fruits, vegetables, and proteins using a knife and / or cutting machines
- Produces food for tastings, lunch, dinner and catered events
- Follow food preparation lists and portioning details as instructed by the Event Chef
- Follow all recipes and guidelines while meeting production deadlines
- Ensures consistent quality on all prepared items
- Tastes all food prepared for the station to ensure flavor, freshness, and quality
- Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
- Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking various foods
- Breaking down and cleaning various proteins
- Plating prepared foods based on Event Chef direction
- Maintains a clean and organized station and prep area
- Follows proper rotation and storage of goods
- Follows safety and sanitation procedures with all guidelines from Health Department
- Make recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the line prep area and equipment
- Close the event kitchen properly by following the closing checklist for kitchen or venue stations
- Assist others in closing the kitchen
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
- Assist with other duties as assigned by Event Chef

- Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of various international cuisines and dishes

Work Environment
- Fast paced kitchen

- Moderate to high noise level
- Exposure to soap and cleaning solutions
- Slippery / uneven surfaces may be encountered
- Frequently moving from cold freezer to normal kitchen environment
- Be able to stand for long periods of time typically be between 6-8 hours
- Always act in a professional manner
- Demonstrate teamwork in all areas, including at the event location or kitchen
- Always with a positive attitude in all types of situations
- Welcome and accept feedback and coaching from the management team in order to maintain and grow as an employee
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 20-50 pounds
Requirements
- Must have and maintain an active Food Handlers Card, as required by the California Health Department.
- Neatly groomed and dressed in clean uniforms and appropriate PPE
- 1-year minimum experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- Great communication skills with managers, kitchen, and event personnel
- Availability to work during the week and weekend and holidays
- Ability to learn and take direction
- Reliable means of transportation
- Prompt arrival to all scheduled shifts
