Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring a SD or compact RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department of a regional hospital with 33-bed main ED and additional care areasServe a diverse patient population from neonates to geriatrics, including minor to critical casesHigh-acuity trauma, cardiac, stroke, and behavioral health cases, plus pediatric intensive care responsibilitiesRN to patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 in the EDVariable 12-hour shifts with a range of start times including days and nights, but will not mix both within the same weekFloating may occur to Med / Surg, PCU, or ICU as a task nurse onlyUses Epic for charting, along with Omnicell and Alaris equipmentNo on-call required, and holiday coverage only if neededRNs are expected to participate in sexual assault evidence collection in rotation with permanent staffStrong critical thinking, ESI triage assessment, and prioritization skills are essentialFull support team includes ED techs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacy techs, radiology staff, and security on the unit8-hour facility orientation and 4-hour ED-specific education provided, with additional unit shifts as part of onboardingTime off requests require manager approval; no requests will be considered during the first 3 weeks of August annuallyNavy scrubs required for this unitFree parking is available for staffRequirements
Active SD or compact RN license requiredCompletion of an approved nursing education programBLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required; CPI, MAB, or MOAB preferredMinimum of 2 years recent ED experience, excluding travel assignments, is most preferred1.5 years recent ED experience (excluding travel) with 2 additional years outside the ED may be considered with management approvalExperience with trauma, cardiac, stroke, and pediatric patients requiredEpic EMR experience preferredMust live more than 100 miles from any Monument facilityFirst-time travelers will not be consideredPermanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a travelerBenefits
