Job description

General Description

The Johns Hopkins University School of Education seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative colleague in Quantitative Research Methods and / or Emerging Technologies in Education. This is a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. This person will also serve as the Director of the Doctor of Education (EdD) Program for a renewable three-year term. As Director, this person will manage and provide strategic vision and direction for our asynchronous online EdD program, preparing education practitioners globally to lead positive, sustained change. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional program leader, an innovative online educator, and a productive scholar who can balance thought leadership with the practical management of program operations.

The vision of the Johns Hopkins EdD program is to prepare professionals across the country and around the world to think critically about problems within their organizational settings and communities, and develop deep understanding and insights to lead positive, sustained change within those settings. The selected program has newly designed areas of focus on topics ranging from learning design and technology to education entrepreneurship. The program enrolls approximately 75 new students each year from a range of geographic locations, academic and professional backgrounds and career interests. Graduates from our EdD program work in diverse areas, including executive roles in educational organizations and start-ups, leadership in K-12 school districts and systems, or as consultants and entrepreneurs in specialized education and non-education fields. The EdD program is supported by a full-time staff member and a department coordinator. Academic Affairs provides support for recruitment, assessment, student services, advising, and instructional design.

The EdD Initiative Scholarship - the result of a generous gift from Bloomberg Philanthropies - offers need-based scholarship support to Johns Hopkins EdD students for up to three years of study. The opportunity to secure funding alleviates concerns about balancing tuition costs with personal and professional obligations. The commitment to providing financial aid reflects the institution's dedication to supporting learners and preparing them to address complex challenges in education.
