Purpose Overview
The Staff Accountant prepares all of the vouchers for governmental grants. Tracks governmental contract submissions and payments. Bills Chicago Public Schools for services rendered by Training and Coaching staff. Assists with month end close; and assists in the accounts payable process.
Responsibilities :
Perform the following from a racial, gender, sexuality, and ability equity lens :
- Meets weekly with the Accounting Manager to discuss workflow and receivables.
- Prepares vouchers for all grants, which includes city, state, CPS and other contracts as assigned.
- Timely submission of all approved vouchers to funders
- Full cycle process of accounts receivable including collections, reconciliations, revisions, and recording
- Supports finance and program management tracking monthly budgets
- Works with program staff to ensure that expenses for contracts are properly accounted for in the accounting system.
- Maintains on-going schedules for depreciation, accounts receivables, pre-paid expenses, and payroll.
- Other duties as needed.

- Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications :
Proven experience working in not-for-profit accounting.Bachelor’s degree in accountancyOrganizedHave the ability to work well across departments.Experience working with government grants mandatory.Knowledge of GAAP based accountingMust have experience in SAGE IntacctConsistently learning and working within the following frameworks : Anti-oppression, Positive Youth Development, Trauma-informed and Balanced and Restorative Justice.Committed to working in a community-based, youth-centered organization, with flexibility, cultural responsiveness, and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.The COVID vaccine is mandatory for all employees to the full extent permissible under applicable law.Salary Description
