Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and certified Mammography Technologist to join our team. The technologist is responsible for performing high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography procedures in full compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, ensuring a safe and empathetic environment for all patients.
Core Responsibilities
- Patient Care : Greet patients, verify their identity, and compassionately explain the mammography procedure, answering any questions to help reduce anxiety.
- Clinical Procedures : Perform screening and diagnostic mammographic examinations, including 3D tomosynthesis, according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Positioning : Expertly position patients to obtain precise and clear diagnostic images, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Image Quality : Critically evaluate mammographic images for technical quality (e.g., positioning, compression, exposure) before submitting them to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Biopsy Assistance : Assist radiologists with interventional procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations, and galactograms.
- Documentation : Obtain and document thorough patient medical histories, including prior imaging, surgeries, and any current breast concerns. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in the RIS / PACS system.
- Compliance & QC : Perform and document all required daily, weekly, and monthly quality control (QC) tests on mammography equipment.
- Regulation : Adhere strictly to all MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) and CDPH (California Department of Public Health) regulations and standards.
- Safety : Practice radiation safety principles (ALARA) to protect patients, staff, and self.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education :
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.Associate's (A.S.) or Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Radiologic Technology (preferred).Licensure and Certification (Required) :
ARRT (R) : Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiography).ARRT (M) : Current advanced certification by the ARRT (Mammography).CRT-M (CA) : Current Mammographic Radiologic Technology (CRT-M) certificate from the State of California.BLS : Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart AssociationExperience :
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mammography Technologist.Skills and Abilities :
Strong knowledge of breast anatomy and mammographic positioning.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient empathy.Meticulous attention to detail for image quality and documentation.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.Proficiency with charting system - EPIC.Physical Demands
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.Requires physical dexterity, including the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30-50 lbs.Involves frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to position patients and equipment.
