Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Level II trauma acute care setting requiring a current CA RN license and advanced L&D certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in the Family Birthing Center within an acute care hospitalL&D unit with 19 postpartum beds, 12 L&D beds, 2 ORs, and 1 PACUHandles both low- and high-risk deliveries; transfer out if baby requires immediate surgeryLevel III NICU available for high acuity newbornsShift is 12-hour nights (6 : 45pm–7 : 15am), every other weekend requiredFloat to Pediatrics (postpartum couplets) and NICU (feeders & growers, if prior experience)Uses Cerner for charting and Fetal Link for surveillanceFollows CA-required nurse-to-patient ratios (1 : 4 to 1 : 1)Hospital-provided scrubs requiredOB techs assist with scrubbing and covering the deskLaborist (OB physician) in-house 24 / 7; RT and Pharmacy also available 24 / 7Responsible for providing patient care throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phasesTypical assignments involve both low- and high-risk pregnanciesHoliday coverage assigned in rotation with permanent staffOrientation includes 2-3 floor specific shifts, depending on circulating capabilitiesFirst to float within the unit based on staffing needsHospital supplies required scrubsPeak census periods are typically in July and OctoberRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM, intermediate or advanced accepted)COVID vaccination requiredMust pass onsite proctored Dysrhythmia Test (pass / fail) on day oneAble to float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed, if experiencedReferences required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsNot eligible if previously employed by the associated health system in the past 12 monthsBenefits
