The Parenting Academy Therapist plays a vital role in supporting families navigating behavioral challenges, mental health concerns, trauma, relationship stress, and complex life transitions. Using evidence-based parent management training interventions, you'll help strengthen parent-child relationships, build resilience, and promote positive development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist early in their career who is passionate about attachment, parent-child work, and evidence-based interventions, and who is seeking strong supervision, supportive colleagues, and meaningful impact.
Compensation
- Starting wage : $30.00 / hour
- Bilingual add-on : +$1.00 / hour for fluency in Spanish or Mixteco
- Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

As a Parenting Therapist I, you will provide compassionate, strengths-based therapy to parents and caregivers, helping families build stronger, healthier relationships.
Assessment & Treatment Planning
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, including interviews, observations, and screeningsAssess family strengths and needs and complete thorough evaluationsDevelop collaborative, individualized treatment plans and track client progressTherapeutic Services
Provide parent-child therapy and parent management training using evidence-based interventionsSupport skill-building in positive parenting practices, emotional regulation, communication, and relationship enhancementDeliver dyadic therapy to strengthen attachment and promote healthy developmentFacilitate group seminars and classes that offer psychoeducation and parenting supportCollaboration & Care Coordination
Partner with community agencies, schools, and professionals to ensure coordinated servicesRefer families to community resources as neededHelp screen incoming referrals and support triage effortsClinical Documentation & Quality Assurance
Maintain accurate, timely, and ethical clinical recordsMeet standards for evidence-based program fidelity, training, and quality assuranceParticipate in mandatory meetings, group supervision, and continuing educationProfessional Development

Strong understanding of positive discipline, behavior management, and effective communication strategiesKnowledge of child development across cognitive, social-emotional, and physical domainsAbility to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered supportExcellent rapport-building, empathy, and active listening skillsAbility to engage children and caregivers who have experienced adversity or traumaFlexibility and creativity in adapting interventions to diverse family needsStrong oral and written communication skills for collaboration with caregivers and professionalsAbility to identify concerns, problem-solve, and connect families with appropriate resourcesEffective time management, planning, and documentation skillsWillingness to adjust schedule to meet family availabilityCommitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and professional standardsComfort working and traveling across Whatcom and Skagit CountiesQualifications
Master's degree in mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a related fieldAssociate-level licensure with WA State DOH (LMHCA, LMFTA, or SWAIC)-or ability to obtain within 6 monthsEligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass required background checksValid driver's license and reliable vehicleFluent in English; bilingual Spanish or Mixteco highly preferredHow to Apply
