As a comprehensive Congenital Heart Center, our program at CHOI provides a full spectrum of pediatric cardiology services. Our Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgeons treat a wide range of heart defects in all age groups from newborns to adults. Children’s Hospital of Illinois aims to establish a collaborative partnership with a leading quaternary care institution to enhance clinical expertise, research capabilities and patient outcomes. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective coordination and communication between the two organizations, in addition to aligning cross organizational priorities.

Overview:

  • Perform a full spectrum of pediatric cardiac surgical procedures including primary repairs of congenital heart defects, valve repair and replacement procedures, cardiac and vascular reconstructions, and complex neonatal cardiac operations.
  • Provide pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, intraoperative management, and post-operative care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, cardiac case conferences, and care coordination meetings.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and current state-of-the-art care.
  • Collaborate with our pediatric ICU and critical care teams to optimize post operative recovery and long-term outcomes.
  • Demonstrate positive working relationships and team-oriented interactions with staff physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, other departments, and other health care providers.
  • Provide compassionate, high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Support education and mentorship for fellows, residents, medical students, and staff.
  • Contribute to research, program development, and clinical innovation to advance pediatric cardiac care.
