Overview
Rehlko is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced controls technologies, system-level requirements for controllers, and intellectual property documentation, including patent protection. The role requires technical expertise in generator communications and paralleling, driving innovation while maintaining and teaching best practices across departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze and document electrical system architectures.
- Use modeling and simulation techniques applicable to the industry to validate assumptions in proposed new designs.
- Develop, analyze and document plant models to support simulation and testing of controller algorithm models.
- Lead in a cross-functional team environment to develop and document system requirements and specifications.
- Lead in a cross-functional team environment to develop and document electronic controls system level performance specifications.
- Create innovative system level designs as a technical expert for use in current and future projects.
- Lead in a cross-functional team environment to develop and document system DFMEA.
- Use technical expertise in generator systems to provide feedback during team design reviews.
- Work closely with patent lawyers to develop patentable ideas and workaround solutions for existing patents.
- Investigate, resolve and document genset system technical issues.
- Work with Marketing to develop controller feature strategies and technical roadmaps.
- Specify controller feature solutions based on strategic market initiatives.
- Discuss with external technical experts and upper management the advantages and disadvantages of new technical concepts applicable to Rehlko Power Systems.
- Develop, maintain and teach best practices within the department; cross-pollinate best practices among other groups.
- Develop and share technical expertise with professional societies and associations.
- Work on special technical projects as dictated by the needs of the department.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) are advantageous.Demonstrate 6 years of related work experience, or 4 years with an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.Knowledge of technical tools such as Matlab, PSPICE, Simulink, OrCAD, Verilog, VHDL, and Microsoft Project is a plus.Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++ is preferred.Exhibit abstract reasoning, organizational abilities, and a high level of motivation to tackle complex challenges.Collaborate effectively as both a team leader and independent contributor to achieve desired outcomes.Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN and MODBUS.Working knowledge of related engineering concepts and practices.Employment details
