The Director of Design and Construction is responsible for leading the teams across the state that handle the design and construction of all new residential and commercial natural gas services and other construction activities. This role oversees ~600 team members and contractors responsible for the construction of approximately 20,000 new services annually, ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Director is tasked with fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement and process building and innovation while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Leadership of Design and Construction Operations

• Provide leadership to a team of 100 team members and over 500 contractors responsible for designing and constructing new residential and commercial gas services and other construction activities, including replacement programs, municipal relocations, rear service relocations, etc.
• Oversee the annual budget of around $150M in capital projects.
• Ensure that design and construction activities align with safety standards, project timelines, and cost-efficiency goals.
• Collaborate with other departments such as Engineering, Operations, Safety, Supply Chain, and Technology to improve project outcomes and operational effectiveness

Senior leaders in Safety, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain departments. Collaboration with Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and Technology teams. Contractors, developers, vendors, local / state regulatory authorities, and industry associations.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.

Master's degree in Business or related field.

Office-based with frequent visits to project sites and gas distribution system locations.

No special physical requirements, though field visits may involve exposure to typical construction site conditions.

Team members are required to participate in the response / recovery activities related to emergencies / disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
