Position Description:
The Welder is responsible for timely and efficient welding and fabricating of material at jobsites and/or facility. This role’s objective is to safely, accurately, and productively move and produce material that satisfies internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Attend all scheduled safety, department, and company meetings as required
• Communicate issues with fixtures, customer prints, material issues, welding equipment, and supporting welding equipment and power/hand tools used in the welding process
• Follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices at all times to ensure safety of self and others
• Establish priorities for efficiently staging, processing, and packaging materials.
• Accepts responsibility for all aspects of the work produced.
• Inspect and verify all aspects of the material when receiving, producing, or packaging size, grade, measurements, heat, quantity, etc.
• Scrutinize customer requirements and special instructions to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Confirm materials and parts are produced to print.
• Ensure inventory is accurate.
• Ensure audit and material traceability procedures are being followed throughout the process.
Physical & Work Requirements:
• Working at a job site or facility within OSHA guidelines; conditions may be heated and/or unheated, dusty and noisy; steel-toed boots required daily
• Must work with hot welding processes and products
• Facility is a multiple shift operation. Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call at various times including possible weekends and holidays
• Fast-paced moderately stressful, constantly changing day-to-day work environment
• Job is performed under some temperature extremes
• Ability to stand, walk, or be mobile for up to eight hours per shift. Capable of ascending and descending material handling equipment
• Ability to lift up to 51 pounds as needed. Pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 pounds
• Wear proper PPE at all times (as described in company policy)
Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
• Understanding of SPS policies and procedures
• Basic shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) knowledge, use of associated tools and welding relevant equipment.
• Ability to effectively read and use a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer
• Proven ability to read and understand prints, documents, and/or drawings
• Proven experience operating material handling equipment
