Compensation :
$75,000 - $95,000 DOE
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
- Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions
Trust Administration
Prepare statutory notices, trust accountings, asset inventories, and transfer documentationCoordinate asset appraisals, retitling, and valuationsCommunicate with trustees, beneficiaries, financial advisors, and accountants to ensure smooth administrationTrack statutory deadlines, including Probate Code complianceProbate Administration
Draft and file probate pleadings, petitions, notices, orders, and related court documentsManage publication requirements and creditor claim processesCoordinate with probate examiners, court clerks, and process servers to ensure accurate and timely filingsPrepare inventories, accountings, and proposed orders of distributionMaintain hearing schedules and compliance calendarsBusiness Transactions
Assist with entity formation for corporations, LLCs, and partnerships, including filing formation documents, obtaining EINs, and drafting organizational minutesPrepare and maintain corporate governance documents, such as bylaws, operating agreements, and shareholder agreementsManage business compliance requirements, including annual reports, state filings, and meeting minutesSupport in drafting and reviewing contracts, purchase agreements, and assignment documentsCoordinate business interest transfers in connection with estate and trust administrationClient & Case Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the matterSchedule and coordinate meetings, signings, and closingsKeep clients informed with regular updates while maintaining strict confidentialityManage and organize case and corporate records for easy retrievalQualifications :
Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program strongly preferredCandidates must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm settingCandidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skillsMust have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar5+ years of paralegal experience, with significant focus on trust / probate law, and at least 2+ years in business transactional supportABA-approved paralegal certificate or equivalent; California Advanced Specialist Certification in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate preferredIn-depth knowledge of probate and trust administration processes and relevant corporate lawProficiency in drafting legal documents, corporate records, and transactional contractsSkilled in legal calendaring, e-filing, and entity management systemsExceptional communication skills and client service orientationNotary license is a PLUS!Preferred Attributes
