Are you passionate about protecting the environment? Are you interested in enforcing state housing laws? If so, you should apply to our Land Use and Conservation Section! This position may be filled in Oakland, Sacramento, Los Angeles, or San Diego.
We are seeking an attorney to join the Land Use and Conservation Section to assist with the California DOJ's Housing Justice Team.
As part of the Housing Justice Team, you will address California’s housing crisis by enforcing housing production laws and fair housing laws, both in the Attorney General’s independent capacity as well as on behalf of our client the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

In addition, the section’s practice includes ensuring public access to California’s beaches, waterways, mountains, and open space through litigation and client advice, and conservation of state parks and other public lands for recreation and ecological protection.
The section's attorneys are specialists on laws pertaining to housing, environmental land use and natural resource regulation (including CEQA), real property, the public trust doctrine, and administrative procedure.
The section represents a variety of agencies including the California Coastal Commission, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the State Lands Commission, and California's land conservancies.
The successful candidate will enforce California’s land use laws through escalating engagement with violators, litigation through all phases of cases in California and federal courts, and legal advice on an ongoing basis to all clients and to the Attorney General.

Minimum Qualifications :
Must be an active member of the California State Bar
Salary Ranges (Monthly) :
- DAG (0-5 years of legal experience) $7,737.00 - $11,173.00
- DAG III (5+ years of legal experience) $10,536.00 - $13,526.00
- DAG IV (6+ years of legal experience) $11,644.00 - $14,954.00
