Overview
Laboratory Technical Coordinator role at CommonSpirit Health. Oversees laboratory personnel and operations in one or more laboratory sections to ensure compliance and quality in accordance with laboratory work processes. Responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the clinical or pathology laboratory department.
Responsibilities
- Coaches laboratory personnel to train for adherence to relevant policies and ethics
- Oversees most laboratory day-to-day operations and exercises authority over operational decisions
- Analyzes and interprets laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes
- Administers laboratory inventories such as supplies, equipment and consumables
- Assists with selection of test methodology that is appropriate for the laboratory use of the test results
- Verifies test procedures and establishes the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including precision and accuracy of each test and test system
- Performs within an HHS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered
- Administers a quality control program and establishes acceptable levels of analytic performance across the testing process
- Trains staff and assists with resolving technical problems, ensuring remedial actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications
- Ensures patient test results are not reported until corrective actions are completed and the test system is functioning properly
- Identifies training needs and ensures regular in-service training for staff performing tests
- Qualifies and functions as the CLIA defined Technical Consultant; evaluates competency of testing personnel and maintains their competency to perform test procedures and report results promptly and accurately

Minimum QualificationsRequired EducationBachelor of Science degree in a chemical or biological science as defined by CLIA
Required Experience2 years clinical lab experience in the designed lab area / speciality
Required Licensure and CertificationsCalifornia : CLS : CA; Nevada : CLS : NV or GS : NV; North Dakota : MT-L : ND; Tennessee : MT-L : TN; Georgia : MT ASCP or equivalent certification (per requirement sheet); Other State License Not Required
Preferred Licensure and CertificationsClinical Laboratory Departments (AU750000) : MT or CLS or MLS certification, ASCP or equivalent (per requirement sheet)Pathology Laboratory Department (AU 752000) : CT or HTL certification required, ASCP or equivalentRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and TrainingSkilled multi-tasker, clear communicator, and active listener who can understand the team's needs
