CAD CAM Programmer - Sr Process Development Specialist

#TeamAAM is searching for a Senior Process Development Specialist who will contribute to our Process Development & Prototype Machining Group within the Driveline organization in Detroit, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role on the 1st shift.

This person should be able to receive a complex part print and fully process it. They will plan machining, pick and purchase CNC cutting tools, design and build prototype CNC machining fixtures, and create CNC cutter paths for both prototype and production parts. Programs to be made using CAD/CAM software, verifying that tools do not crash. This individual will load the CNC horizontal mill, prove out all of the above, making first parts and then working with the CMM department to dial in machine to ensure quality parts.

The ideal candidate can effectively problem solve in a manufacturing environment and is a great teammate that possesses the ability to work in a multi-functional environment. Preferred qualifications are SmartCAM or Mastercam 3-axis programming experience along with 5-axis programming experience.

• Develops and creates efficient CNC machining programs for mills and lathes using CAD/CAM software.
• Develops groundbreaking processes for our Machining Development Facility.
• Researches and develops new, effective, and cost-efficient tooling and work holding.
• Provides technical support to CNC operators.
• Provides CNC support to production plants globally.
• Supports fixture design for part work holding.
• Determines optimal processing method to manufacture production components.
• All other duties as assigned.

**Required Skills & Education:

**

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 5+ years of manufacturing experience in a prototype or job shop environment.

• 2+ years of experience CAD/CAM programming CNC mills (lathes a plus).

• 1+ year of experience CNC macro programming.

• Ability to understand and interpret blueprint part drawings and general GD&T; can receive blueprint and create the part from start to finish.

• Experienced in cutting tool selection and calculating proper feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.

• Experienced in work holding selection and design.

• Availability and willingness to work overtime when needed, including weekends and holidays as requested, along with ability to travel up to 10%.
