Job Description : Responsibilities :
Responsibilities :
149; Design and install the equipment used in transmitting wired phone, cellular, cable, and broadband data.
149; Work with copper or Fiber Optic cables and complex networks as well as switching systems
149; Design or configure communications systems, including voice, video, and data, and install or coordinate installation for new or modified hardware, software, or programming modules of a telecommunications system.
149; Evaluate hardware and software to determine its efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with the existing systems, networks, and data.
149; Monitor and analyze system performance to proactively identify service-impacting issues, manage large products requiring telecommunication services, and ensure timely planning and implementation.
149; Produce, update, and generally improve technical documentation to support the systems' security requirements and operational support.
MUST HAVE SKILLS
- Knowledge and experience with Granite circuit database
- IP knowledge and understanding of routing / assigning IPs
- Digital Communications including : Fiber, Ethernet
- Microwave experience including : ALU / Nokia MPR9500
- Proficient in office computer applications : Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
- Decision-making skills (by making appropriate use of all available information and data; anticipating the future and preparing accordingly;
- recognizing the impact of decisions upon the rest of the organization; receiving broad guidance; being accountable for broad project results;
and being responsible for the leadership of broad programs in support of organizational or area strategies)
- Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
- Need to be highly productive and pay close attention to detail.
- Familiarity with engineering and engineering economic principles preferred.
- DWDM Optical Transport systems including : ALU / Nokia 7705 & 7750 routers
DESIRED SKILLS :
- In-depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM / DWDM Optical Transport systems including : Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent
- Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps is preferred.
- Knowledge of Pathloss 5 microwave design software
- Executive-level troubleshooting, problem-solving, project management, and interpersonal skills
- Superior organizational and planning skills (setting and communicating priorities; anticipating workload impact on resources of both self and team;
delegating where appropriate; consistently following up on outstanding items; and providing focus in meetings and discussions).
- Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.
- Contract knowledge preferred but not required
