Job description :

A large dairy operation in Virginia who are looking for an experienced and reliable Feeder to join their team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating vertical mixers and / or truck-mounted feed mixers and possess a strong understanding of dairy nutrition and feed delivery systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our herd receives accurate, consistent, and timely feed rations.

The Feeder will be responsible for operating and maintaining vertical and / or truck-mounted feed mixers for daily Total Mixed Ration (TMR) preparation and distribution. They will accurately load feed ingredients based on established rations and feed sheets, deliver feed to pens on schedule while maintaining consistency in timing and placement, and monitor feed inventories to report supply needs to management. Routine maintenance on feed equipment will be expected, as well as prompt reporting of any mechanical issues. This role also includes assisting in the cleaning and upkeep of feed areas, equipment, and bunks, recording and reporting feeding data and any animal health or behavior concerns, and adhering to all safety protocols and biosecurity procedures.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating vertical mixers and / or truck-mounted feed mixers and possess a strong understanding of dairy nutrition and feed delivery systems. Qualifications :

• Prior experience operating vertical or truck-mounted mixers required
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance
• Familiarity with dairy nutrition and TMR preparation preferred
• Ability to work independently and maintain a consistent schedule
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions
