Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in biological life sciences.
Work Experience :
5 years of similar research work experience.
Working knowledge of computer software for database construction and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
Education : Master’s degree in biological life sciences.
Work Experience : Lab experience including a good publication record.
Skills :
Experience in small animal handling, various immunological and techniques, and tissue culture is highly preferred.
Strong computer, animal experience, molecular biology skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, can prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently.
Sound judgment, strong analytical skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Job Duties Outlined
Perform a wide variety of specialized and advanced molecular biology techniques such as gene cloning, quantitative PCR, and familiar with conditional and non-conditional cre / loxP mouse transgenesis technology.
Utilize database software in database construction and maintenance. Enter research data in computer databases and appropriate worksheets.
Provide reports and other data for publications and presentations.
Perform routine animal maintenance, handling for various immunological and techniques, and tissue culture.
Train and assist postdocs and students in basic techniques in molecular biology and virology, laboratory procedures and maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and other research staff.
Compliance : Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology Department, understand and follow IACUC, animal, and biosafety protocols, and attend regular lab meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement :
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking.
A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding.
At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
