We're working with a fast-growing, independent energy company headquartered in Houston that's focused on oil and gas development in North America. They're seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their close-knit finance team.

This is an on-site role supporting large-scale development projects, including a major exploration initiative in Alaska. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and planning-preferably in the upstream oil & gas sector.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create and analyze financial reports for internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to IFRS, US GAAP, and SEC financial reporting and compliance.
  • Work closely with auditors to ensure smooth and accurate reporting cycles.
  • Support the internal controls framework, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting workflows and automation.
  • Educate internal teams on accounting standards and policy updates.
  • Align financial data with company-wide business strategy to guide decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and corporate accounting, ideally in oil & gas.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and oil & gas-specific accounting (e.g., COPAS).
  • High Excel proficiency and comfort with financial systems / tools.
  • Clear communicator who can distill complex financials into actionable insights.
  • Strategic thinker who sees finance as a tool to drive smart business growth.
