About this position

The Director of Marketing leads the planning and execution of marketing projects, advertising campaigns, and creative initiatives that strengthen Florida Southern College's brand. This role oversees day-to-day project management, helping ensure that marketing efforts-from photography and graphic design to digital and print advertising-are delivered on time and with high quality. The Director works closely with campus partners to promote programs, events, and stories that support the College's mission and strategic goals, building stronger awareness and engagement within both external audiences and the campus community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as the primary custodian of marketing requests and projects processed through the department.
  • Responsible for driving brand enforcement and growth, enhancing brand equity, and ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints. Administer brand assets for internal and external projects.
  • Collaborate with writers and graphic designers to create advertising content and create and manage a content calendar and schedule deadlines.
  • Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to oversee the development, planning, and execution of external and internal College communications and marketing campaigns and programs to include, but not limited to public relations, advertising, promotional resources, College website, social media, and interdepartmental communication.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring the completion of projects on time and within budget parameters.
  • Advise social media content strategy through the creation and management of social content calendars to ensure the distribution of relevant and timely information consistent with the College's brand.
  • Manage the organization and cataloging of the College's digital assets, including logos, photography, video, and copy. Assist with campus photography needs.
  • Collaborate with staff and / or vendors to generate content to support marketing campaigns and projects.
  • Work closely with the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer to coordinate the planning and implementation of major College events and ceremonies.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, staff, and the various constituencies served by the College
  • Attend events / meetings and represent the College as needed, including photography needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media, publications, and vendor partners to ensure clear and consistent communication on behalf of the College.
  • Contribute to the success of the office of marketing by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.

About our ideal candidate

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Higher education experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of programs such as social media management software (Sprout, Hootsuite); media reporting interfaces, design software (Adobe Creative Suite); and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, expert understanding and use of English grammar, and strong editing skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to maintain composure and competence under pressure.
  • Must be able to prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and work independently to move projects through to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Must be able to work independently, use initiative, and make substantive decisions quickly.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

    The Defined Contribution Retirement Plan is a 403(b) plan in which the college automatically contributes 7% of the eligible employee's earnings into a retirement fund whether the employee chooses to participate or not. The account has a comprehensive investment portfolio and allows the employee to control their investment choices. At 6 years of service, the employer contribution amount is elevated to 10%. Employees can choose to participate through pre-tax payroll deductions when ready!
