Overview
Position : Port Safety and Security Officer (Security Professional). This description includes duties at the Judicial Center and Historic Courthouse and related responsibilities for security, screening, evacuation, and daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the security system (cameras, alarms, security access areas, courtrooms) and Judicial Center exit doors; perform exterior security checks of the Judicial Center and Historic Courthouse; monitor the x-ray screen for contraband and weapons.
- Conduct security screening of persons entering the Judicial Center; observe the public for suspicious behavior; answer questions and direct the public as needed.
- Assist in evacuating personnel and the public from the Judicial Center in an emergency.
- Open the Judicial Center in the mornings; start up and inspect security equipment at the beginning of duty; answer phones; maintain daily logs; notify supervisor of incidents.

Required to speak and hear clearly; often required to sit and use hands and fingers; may need to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Requires close vision.Tasks And Policies
Direct the safe and expeditious evacuation of courthouse personnel and the public from the Judicial Center according to procedure and agency policy.Monitor the x-ray monitor to determine clearance or need for open inspection based on signals and observations.Conduct a daily inspection of the x-ray machine to ensure proper operation per specifications.Accurately complete and forward daily logs including x-ray machine inspections and confiscated property for the day.Complete assignments to specifications within the specified timeframe and in accordance with agency policies and regulations.Perform other related duties as assigned.Policy
