SUMMARY :

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will support the engineering and production teams by assisting in the development, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes. This role provides hands-on experience in problem-solving, process analysis, and lean manufacturing techniques while contributing to efficiency, quality, and safety initiatives on the production floor. The intern will gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration, data collection, and technical documentation to help drive continuous improvement within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Process Improvement Support

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes, offering suggestions for further optimization.
  • Assist with process improvement projects, including data collection, workflow analysis, and implementation of efficiency-enhancing solutions.
  • Support 3D printing applications for prototyping, tooling, and production aids; design and print components as needed.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather input, understand process requirements, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Communicate process changes or updates to relevant stakeholders, ensuring a smooth transition during improvements.
  • Data Collection and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data related to process performance, such as time studies, productivity, set up sheet accuracy, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare reports summarizing key findings and present insights to support decision-making.
  • Interpret and create basic reports and visualizations of business data using Excel
  • EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

    Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

    Technical proficiency in data analysis is helpful. Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office programs. Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel. Strong administrative skills. Must be very detail oriented. Exceptional oral and written communications. High level of patience and service. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills. Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS :

    Physical Requirements : Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Working Conditions : Exposure to a normal office environment. Position may occasionally require entering a production environment, including exposure to noise, fumes, moving machinery, and varied temperatures.
