DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is actively seeking a Senior Highway / Drainage with roadway drainage design, and roadway design experience to join our Transportation Team and Virginia Operations. The Senior Engineer will assist and lead roadway and drainage design from conceptualization through completion.

- Lead and coordinate the drainage design on highway, bridge, trail, or other transportation improvement projects.
- Participate as a member of a design team performing analysis, preparing designs, project plans, estimates, reports, specifications, etc. for state and local agency transportation improvement projects.
- Serve as a Task Lead, or Design Engineer on large-scale highway, bridge, and / or trail projects with multiple disciplines and sub-consultants
- Provide technical guidance and coordination of roadway drainage design related items
- Implement existing QA / QC procedures, participate in the further development and maintenance of the QA / QC program for transportation improvement projects
- Arrange, prepare, and conduct meetings both internally and externally
- Prepare scope, budget, and schedule for clients as well as internally
- Train and / or mentor junior staff
- Lead client engagement and marketing activities
- Other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university8-20 years’ experience performing and managing roadway and drainage designProfessional engineer (PE) registration in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 monthsExperience managing and delivering, or serving as a task manager on VDOT and municipal projectsExperience designing roadway drainage improvements, including WQ / WQ FacilitiesDemonstrated ability producing VDOT drainage plans, including providing plans, profiles, any needed details, calculations, estimates, etc.Experience designing roadway improvements, or working / coordinating with the roadway design teamDemonstrated Ability using drainage software programs; CivilStorm, Culvert Master, Flowmaster, Geopak Drainage, HEC-Ras, Hy-8, Hydraulic Toolbox, PondPack, StormCADDDemonstrated Ability using MicroStation, OpenRoads, Geopak, and / or Corridor ModelingExperience mentoring engineering staffExperience on both conventional and design-build projectsExperience preparing drainage calculationsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively on all levels, internal and externalExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to conceptualize and think creativelyEstablish clear lines of communications within project team and with client for free flow of informationEstablished relationships with regional clients and other subconsultantsDemonstrated ability to properly address and manage changeDemonstrated problem-solving, negotiations and decision-making skillsOccasional to moderate travel may be required.COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $94,000-$148,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
