Overview

SQL Server Database Administrator 2 / 3 - R10210267 at Northrop Grumman. This role is 100% onsite in Melbourne, FL with Secret clearance required. Relocation assistance is not available. Travel is up to 10%.

Description

Northrop Grumman CIDO – Database Operations has an immediate need for a SQL Server Database Administrator. The DBA will provide MS SQL Server database support for business application systems, primarily inside closed areas in Melbourne, FL. The position expects the application of technical solutions to complex problems with substantial latitude for technical objectives. Completed work is reviewed from a long-term perspective. The DBA may create standards and / or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.

Primary Duties

  • Perform database maintenance tasks to support application changes and ensure integrity and efficient performance of the databases (backup, recovery, migration, space management, structural changes, performance tuning).
  • Participate in the research and resolution of database problems.
  • Research and install DBMS software packages.
  • Document and improve work processes.
  • Provide thorough coordination with customers, application developers, customers, and other IT groups.

Analytical Tasks

  • Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
  • Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery, and make recommendations regarding enhancements and / or improvements.
  • Maintain security and integrity controls.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization.
  • Develop stored procedures and / or triggers.
  • This open requisition may be filled by a level 2 (early career) or level 3 (mid-career) candidate.

    • Basic Qualifications

    Level 2

  • 2 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 0 years with a relevant Master's degree.
  • Experience as an MS SQL DBA.
  • Sufficient understanding of MS SQL versions 2016, 2017 and 2019.
  • Login and DB security experience.
  • Performance tuning and indexing experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Basic Windows OS knowledge.

    • Level 3

  • 5 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 3 years with a Master's degree.
  • Proven experience as an MS SQL DBA.
  • Sufficient understanding of MS SQL versions 2016, 2017 and 2019.
  • Login and DB security experience.
  • Performance tuning and indexing experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Basic Windows OS knowledge.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Graph technology database experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in batch scripting and other RDBMS systems.
  • 9 years of relevant IT Database experience.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance is a plus.
  • Security+ certification is a plus.

    • Salary

  • Primary Level Salary Range : $77,200.00 - $115,800.00
  • Secondary Level Salary Range : $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

    • The above salary ranges are guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers multiple factors when determining base salary offers, including scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives may be available in some roles. The company provides health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, holidays, and PTO.
