Physical Requirements :
Hiking and / or walking in remote and rugged forested conditions; lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to 50lbs.; sitting for extended periods of time.
Shift :
Monday Friday, 8am 5 : 00pm (40 hours / week). Some weekends may be required.
Job Summary :
The University of Kentucky, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR) seeks a Research Analyst to support the research programs of faculty members in the areas of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), GIS, and forest health.
The primary duties of the incumbent will be to collect data for research, perform data analysis, and write technical and research documents.
The position is a temporary (one year with potential to extend pending additional funding) 100% FTE (full-time) employee supported by grant funding.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :
Use of geospatial hardware and software including global positioning systems (GPS), Remote Sensing (RS), and Photogrammetry.
Understanding of applied statistical procedures and ability to learn new methods. Familiarity with ArcGIS or QGIS, ENVI or ERDAS IMAGINE, DJI Terra or Pix4D, R or Python is preferred.
