Community Relations Specialist (Part-Time, Contract-to-Hire)

Position Details & Benefits

Hourly Rate : $20 / hour

Hours : ~20 hours per week (based on event schedule)

Contract Type : 12-month contract-to-hire

Schedule : Flexible, dependent on community events

Travel : (80% in the field, 20% in office) Mileage reimbursement and travel time compensation provided

Location : Candidates must reside in any of the following : Nye County, Humboldt County, or Carson City

About the Role

We’re seeking Community Relations Specialists to support community outreach and engagement efforts across Nevada. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy connecting with people, attending community events, and promoting health and wellness education.

As a Community Relations Specialist , you’ll represent the organization at local events, health fairs, and outreach activities—helping to increase awareness, distribute educational materials, and support full-time staff in achieving community engagement and membership goals.

Key Responsibilities

Attend and assist with community events, health fairs, and outreach activities within assigned counties.

Set up resource tables, distribute educational materials, and assist with event giveaways.

Support full-time community outreach staff in day-to-day activities.

Promote Medicaid and SilverSummit Health Plan information in the community.

Help develop and maintain relationships with local organizations, vendors, and providers.

Represent the organization professionally and positively within the community.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Training Provided

All new hires will receive comprehensive paid training, including :

Compliance training (Day 1)

Week-and-a-half training period before shadowing

Medicaid education

SilverSummit Health Plan education

Guidance on appropriate outreach communication (“what to say / not to say”)

Field shadowing with experienced staff

Qualifications

Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience : 0–2 years in community outreach, event coordination, marketing, or customer service preferred

Skills :

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Dependable and self-motivated

Comfortable engaging with the public at community events

Ability to lift and set up event materials (tables, boxes, banners, etc.)

Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace)

Reliable transportation (travel required within assigned county)
