The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and enhancing training programs for the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), Jerome L. Greene Science Center (JLG) , and Morningside Campus (MS) Institute if Comparative Medicine (ICM) staff, and all researchers. This includes organizing American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) and Surgical Research certification classes and assisting ICM staff in obtaining certifications. The incumbent ensures timely and cost-effective completion of tasks in compliance with federal agency and Columbia University policies and procedures, maintaining performance standards consistent with the Institute of Comparative Medicine.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain computer-based training modules on RASCAL's training website. Create and maintain training materials and signage for all animal facility users, including written and graphical content. Develop and maintain IACUC training protocols as the "lead researcher". (25%)
Conduct and coordinate training for all animal facility users, including researchers, husbandry staff, veterinary technicians, building supervisors, and veterinarians. Provide ongoing monitoring and remedial training for veterinary skills and biosecurity procedures. (40%)
Coordinate and manage wet lab registration processes. (10%)
Organize and oversee AALAS and Surgical Research certification classes, materials, reviews, and mock exams. Proctor in-house AALAS exams. (10%)
Develop necessary training policies, SOPs, and guidelines. (10%)
Schedule and coordinate "All Hands Meetings" and Tech Week activities, including topics, attendance, and speakers. (5%)
Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned / requested.
