About the Role

As a Senior Property Facultative Underwriter for the Caribbean region, you will evaluate and price facultative reinsurance submissions while developing strong relationships with cedants and brokers. You'll leverage your technical expertise to make sound underwriting decisions that balance risk and opportunity in this specialized market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and underwrite complex property and casualty facultative risks across Caribbean territories
  • Analyze submission data to evaluate exposures, hazards, and pricing adequacy
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Negotiate terms and conditions for facultative placements that meet profitability targets
  • Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and other technical teams to enhance underwriting approach
  • Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategic business planning
  • Mentor junior underwriters and share technical knowledge across the team
  • Stay current with market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments in the Caribbean region
  • Contribute to process improvements and underwriting tools development

The FAC P&C Caribbean team is a highly motivated, high-performance group of technical professionals. Our team combines deep market knowledge with analytical rigor to deliver exceptional facultative reinsurance solutions across the Caribbean region. We pride ourselves on our technical expertise, collaborative approach, and commitment to excellence in all aspects of our work.

About You

You're a detail-oriented underwriting professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for relationship building. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can apply your technical knowledge while developing creative solutions to complex risk challenges. Your communication skills allow you to explain technical concepts clearly to various stakeholders, and you're motivated by achieving both individual and team goals.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Property facultative underwriting or similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Caribbean insurance markets and regional risk factors
  • Strong technical understanding of property risk assessment and pricing
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to evaluate complex risk information
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, or related field
  • These are additional nice to haves :

  • Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ACII, or equivalent)
  • Experience with catastrophe modeling tools (AIR, RMS)
  • Knowledge of multiple Caribbean territories and their specific risk profiles
  • Spanish or French language proficiency
  • Experience in treaty reinsurance or direct insurance underwriting
  • Background in engineering, construction, or other technical field relevant to risk assessment
  • The estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $234,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
