University Health is looking for a Full Time Staff Psychologist to join their team of caring professionals! This position is located at the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center.
POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides services for psychological evaluations by conducting clinical interviews, administering and interpreting psychological testing, and using collected information to write reports and provide conclusions for recommendations and / or dispositions.
Testifies in court to explain types of psychological test and evaluations performed on individuals involved with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department and Juvenile Court.
Supports and adheres to University Health (UH) and Detention Health Care Services (DHCS) Juvenile policies and procedures.
Demonstrates behaviors consistent with UH mission, vision, and values. Promotes excellent internal and external customer relations.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate in Psychology or related field, and one year of supervised postdoctoral experience in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, or a related field;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques.
Skill in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees, private attorneys, outside organizations, and the general public .
Experience working in a juvenile detention environment and in conducting forensic psychological evaluations is preferred.
Two years’ experience in supervising mental health staff preferred.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION :
Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
