As the Bank continues to grow in size, complexity, and product offerings, this role will ensure accurate and timely financial information, strengthen and revamp regulatory reporting processes including the Call Report, execute CECL accounting activities within Accounting, and provide technical accounting expertise for emerging products, transactions, operational activities, and regulatory requirements. The Bank Accounting Manager will also mentor accounting staff, strengthen accounting governance, support ALCO and management reporting needs, and help the Bank mitigate risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and support long-term strategic growth.

What will the employee do in this role?

  • Lead the month-end close process, general ledger governance, chart of accounts maintenance, financial statement preparation, management reporting, GAAP compliance, and variance/flux analysis.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, aging reviews, internal controls over financial reporting, accounting policies and procedures, and audit/examination support.
  • Manage accounting operations for key Bank activities, including Federal Reserve activity, loan-related accruals and charge-offs, commissions, investment securities, FHLB borrowings, fixed assets, prepaids, accounts payable, vendor payments, ACH activity, and corporate settlement or clearing accounts; execute CECL accounting activities and transition recurring CECL process back into Accounting.
  • Review and document accounting treatment for new products, services, transactions, system changes, and operational activities to ensure appropriate accounting, reporting, and control outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen and revamp regulatory reporting processes, including Call Report schedules, FCB reporting, FDIC assessments, regulatory examinations, external audit requests, and implementation of new accounting or regulatory guidance.
  • Maintain accounting records and reconciliations for investments, borrowings, liquidity management activities, and Federal Reserve settlement activity; provide balance sheet and income statement data to support ALCO reporting.
  • Maintain accounting-related system configurations, general ledger mappings, posting logic, and related documentation; partner with IT and Operations to improve automation, reporting efficiency, and data integrity between core banking systems and the general ledger.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff, assign and monitor workloads, establish performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and strong financial controls.
  • Oversee and review recurring Bank accounting workpapers, reconciliations, close support, month-end close deliverables, and financial reporting schedules.
  • Support monthly financial reports, variance/flux analysis, management reporting, Board/committee support, ALCO reporting data, and executive-level reporting materials as needed.
  • Coordinate accounting support for Call Report schedules, FCB reporting, FDIC assessments, regulatory examination requests, external audit requests, and other regulatory or audit deliverables; help redesign related regulatory reporting processes to improve accuracy, consistency, documentation, and review controls.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, chart of accounts governance, GL mapping documentation, control documentation, and evidence of review to support audit readiness and sustainable operations.

What roles will this employee lead?

This role provides direct leadership, coaching, workload oversight, and performance management for Bank accounting staff and may supervise assigned accountants or accounting specialists. The Bank Accounting Manager will assign and monitor work, establish performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, support professional development, and coordinate cross-functional accounting work with Finance, Operations, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Data/IT, and business partners.
