Job description

Assistant Director - Planned Giving

The Assistant Director - Planned Giving, is a member of the Gifts & Grants program and reports to the Executive Director, Planned Giving. The Gifts & Grants program focuses on relationship-based fundraising to secure gifts from individuals, corporate partners, and foundations.

The Assistant Director, Planned Giving, works under the direction of team leadership to develop and implement effective, creative, and personalized strategies to increase giving through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level donors and prospective donors. The Assistant Director, Planned Giving, is responsible for dynamic discovery work with donors and prospective donors interested in giving asset-based and deferred gifts.

Some travel and weekend and evening work will be required.

This position is a hybrid role with a minimum two days per week at our South Lake Union campus.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on discovery of prospective planned gift donors via follow-up from marketing efforts and other sources.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, Planned Giving, develop and implement effective, creative, and personalized donor strategies to increase giving.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 to 250 donors and prospective donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, qualify, solicit, and steward donors and prospective donors capable of mid-level gifts to meet and exceed personal and team fundraising goals.
  • Align with seasoned fundraiser for mentorship and donor strategy opportunities.
  • Translate science and clinical priorities to inspire gifts and grants.
  • Facilitate meaningful interactions for donors and prospective donors, participate in a robust schedule of events, and represent Fred Hutch in the community.
  • Document interactions, participate in prospect management meetings, and use Raiser's Edge/NXT to support relationship management and upgrade potential.
  • Serve as an individual contributor with direct fundraising responsibility; this role does not have people or program management responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two years experience in fundraising, nonprofit, or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency working with professional advisors.
  • Experience engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals making a planned gift or blended gift.
  • Ability to advance the interests of donors or prospective donors while honoring the interests of the organization.
  • Drive for results with a strong sense of self-motivation and independence to meet and exceed metric goals.
  • Experience in research or health care environment with campaign planning or campaign implementation experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and information management skills.
  • Strong attention to a high level of detail and quality of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within a complex organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CRM, Raiser's Edge/RENXT, or related fundraising software.
  • Ability to handle and respect confidential and sensitive information.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $84,490 to $126,714, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
