Job description

Material Handler II

The Material Handler II is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the right time to meet on-time-delivery goals.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Essential Functions:

  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; Escalate variances in counts as needed
  • Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment
  • Consult with others (i.e., supervisors, buyer planners, etc.) to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s); Pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work
  • Issue critical materials to production cells
  • Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner
  • Aid and/or Backfill coworkers, as needed to complete daily tasks
  • Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs
  • Ensure compliance with export compliance rules
  • Assist with training new employees and cross training other materials associates
  • Capable of supporting more than one value stream
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-6 years of relevant manufacturing experience; Previous experience working with manufacturing software tools
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods; Familiar with lean principles; Understanding of continuous improvement tools
  • Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated outstanding manual dexterity; Demonstrated ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks; Demonstrated ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions; Demonstrated ability to understand standard work instructions; Demonstrated ability to solve routine problems; Math skills to perform basic calculations; Outstanding verbal communication skills; Proficient with MS Office
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microscopes

Eligibility Requirement:

This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 50-75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 25-50% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 35 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 35 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: use of computer, eye-loop
  • Workspace: stand up computer workstation and kitting carts

Salary range: $25.18/hr. - $31.59/hr. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
