Job Description:
The Engineering Director serves as the strategic leader for Alpine's Engineering organization. The position is responsible for setting Alpine's engineering strategy and ensuring execution of high-impact initiatives. This position develops high-performing talent, strengthens processes, improves efficiency, and fosters an aggressive growth mindset across the division.
Core Responsibilities:

Set the Engineering strategy for the division and make Alpine Engineering a source of competitive advantage to gain market share.

Support the development of the Annual Plan and Long-Range Plan and drive execution of the key Engineering initiatives defined within them.

Partner with Marketing, Software Development, and 3rd Party suppliers to execute Alpine's Customer Back Innovation pipeline and ensure alignment with the division's growth strategies.

Collaborate with Software Development to ensure 100% building code compliance and provide thought leadership to influence future codes for the betterment of our business, customers, and industry.

Leverage 80/20 to deliver differentiated engineering support, value engineering, and customer facing metrics (turnaround time, etc.).

Role model Aggressive Growth Mindset for Engineering and across the division. Advance engineering performance by enhancing processes, standards, and governance.

Lead, identify and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness.

Coach through feedback, development planning and performance management to develop Great ITW Leaders and accelerate the talent pipeline.

Continually assess the capabilities and capacity needed to achieve business goals, and upgrade when necessary.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or related field), required

Professional Engineering (PE) License, preferred

10+ years of engineering experience, ideally within civil or structural engineering disciplines

5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing professional, technical, or engineering leaders

Experience working with highly technical and/or software products and services

Strong understanding of building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

Previous experience applying design policies and interpreting technical standards, including relevant sections of TPI, NDS, LGSEA, AISI, and standard loading formulas

Compensation Information:
Certain states require that pay information be included in job postings. The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience, and the geographic location. For example, in Illinois, the pay rate will be between $133,000 - $195,000 (highly experienced).
