Job Title : Clinical Education Specialist

Profession : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of two years recent experience as an RN educator.

License : Current RN license

Certifications : BLS

Must-Have : Open heart experience

Description :

The purpose of the position is to provide ongoing assessment of staff educational needs.

Utilize adult learning principles to strategically design, implement, and evaluate educational offerings.

Collaborate with department leadership to ensure competency of staff.

Provide ongoing assessment of learning needs for all staff members.

Plan, coordinate, and evaluate education programs provided.

Conduct annual needs assessments.

Develop and implement department orientation for all staff members.

Provide a written orientation plan and skills checklist for new employees.

Collaborate with management to schedule new staff with mentors / preceptors.

Communicate learner's needs and goals.

Provide input to managers for employee reviews.

Identify the need for in-service training and continuing education.

Develop training programs to ensure staff competence when practices change or new procedures are implemented.

Monitor the competence of staff.

Maintain records and submit information as requested.

Review and update reference materials for staff and patients.

Coordinate the development and / or revision of new standards, policies, and procedures.

Conduct Annual Educational Needs Assessment for assigned units.

Provide a monthly in-service topic and additional training as needed.

Maintain clinical competence in the area of specialty.

Provide direct patient care as assigned.

Promote positive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.

Participate in assigned committees and departmental meetings.

Actively participate in planning and implementation of annual competency fairs.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Communicate effectively and provide care for patients and their families.

Perform other duties as assigned.
