Float Pool Nursing Assistant

About the unit

We are a float pool, and our goal is to provide flexible staffing. We provide broad exposure to different patient populations as we support all 36+ inpatient nursing units including adults, pediatrics, and women's health. Culturally, we are a very close-knit group despite our size. We pride ourselves in getting to know each team member individually and we try to personally acknowledge/support individuals on our team.

It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned it Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan's first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.

Scope of work

Coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the unit. In addition to communication and clerical tasks, she/he monitors and stocks supplies. Provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
