Phoenix Childrenâ€s and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders seeks a faculty member to join the Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation Program at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate should have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology / Oncology and preferably an additional year in pediatric BMT.  Responsibilities include shared inpatient and night call responsibilities on the BMT service, managing outpatients in the clinic setting, and developing a clinical, translational, and/or laboratory research program in a field relevant to stem cell transplantation.  Teaching responsibilities may include medical students from the University of Arizona and Mayo Medical School, as well as Phoenix Childrenâ€s residents and Hem/Onc fellows.  Qualified candidates should have a strong interest in mentoring and program development, be academically productive, and must be board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology subspecialty, and have additional training or experience in stem cell transplantation.
The research focus of the BMT Program includes acute leukemia, myeloproliferative disorders, transplant for hemoglobinopathies and immune deficiencies, chronic GVHD, survivorship, and cellular therapies. The Childrenâ€s Blood and Cancer Division at Phoenix Childrenâ€s sees over 370 new oncology patients per year, and has additional active clinical and laboratory research programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, and phase I/phase II investigational drug development.
There is an ACMG-approved fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology, with affiliations with the Mayo Clinic, the Arizona Cancer Center, and the University of Arizona, as well as a BMT clinical fellowship.Â
Phoenix Childrenâ€s, the only freestanding Childrenâ€s Hospital in Arizona, houses a designated wing with 16 HEPA Filtered, positive-pressure rooms for particularly immune-deficient patients.Â
PCH is a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center that also serves as a primary pediatric teaching facility for the University of Arizona, and the Mayo Clinic Arizona medical students and has residency programs in Pediatrics and Medicine/Pediatrics.
