MD Anderson Cancer CenterHouston, TX, United States- Full-time
A Postdoctoral Fellowship position focusing on adaptive radiation therapy is open in Dr. Ergys Subashi's lab, Department of Radiation Physics, Division of Radiation Oncology. The research project will implement advanced image reconstruction methods and evaluate feasibility for offline and online adaptive treatment planning and radiotherapy delivery. This work will be developed in the context of a larger initiative aimed at exploring the use of quantitative and functional imaging to improve radiation therapy care and outcomes. The Division of Radiation Oncology houses multiple state-of-the-art MRI scanners, linear accelerators, and a hybrid MR-Linac. Our team is looking for a highly motivated member interested in joining a collaborative group of scientists and physicians.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for implementing advanced image reconstruction methods, characterizing image quality from accelerated MRI acquisitions, developing strategies for offline and online treatment planning for adaptive radiation therapy, building automated image analysis tools, and evaluating procedures for quality assurance of adaptive planning and radiotherapy delivery. The Fellowship encourages collaboration with a broad range of investigators in an interdisciplinary research project that involves the use of automation in some of the most time-consuming tasks in radiotherapy care, including contouring, inverse planning, image registration, and quality assurance. As part of the team, the fellow is expected to present relevant scientific findings at project meetings, national and international conferences, and via publication in top-tier peer-reviewed scientific journals.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The potential candidate is expected to learn various acquisition and reconstruction methods (conventional and AI-based) for quantitative and functional imaging, strategies for offline and online treatment planning for adaptive radiation therapy, build automated image analysis tools, implement and evaluate strategies for quality assurance of planning and radiotherapy delivery.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Biomedical / Electrical Engineering. Research experience and an excellent knowledge-base in various programming languages (C / C++, Python, MATLAB) as applied to image reconstruction for metabolic and functional imaging with MRI.
