Job Summary :

The Game Day Operations Coordinator manages the operation of select facilities for TCU Athletics by providing leadership, direction and supervision to select athletic facilities and operations staff, including and not limited to : hiring, training and supervision of graduate assistants, contract event staff and student employees utilized for daily game operations. Serves as the primary front-line game manager for assigned intercollegiate events.

Duties & Essential Job Functions :

1. Serves as front-line responder to quickly and successfully diffuse, manage or resolve interpersonal conflicts, situations or facility management issues before, during and after games.

2. Serves as on-site game operations contact for assigned sports through presence at pre-event planning, day of event set-up, games or complimentary events, ensuring rules and guidelines are followed, supervising related staff, assisting with the flow of the service as appropriate and requested.

3. Elevates facility health, safety or patron conflicts to game day management or public safety as needed.

4. Communicates effectively with management regarding sports assigned, policies, procedures, and issues, etc.

5. Develops and implements facility policies regarding safety, security, liability, maintenance, ADA compliance, budget and staffing needs.

6. Assist with contract event staffing (e.g. ticket and gates) for assigned sports.

7. Serves as the liaison to other athletic department areas including, but not limited to, sports information, athletic training, tickets, compliance, and equipment related to game day operations for assigned sports.

8. Schedule and supervise game day operations student employees for assigned sports.

9. Manages pre-game and post-game facility conversions and transformations for assigned sports.

10. Assists Director of Athletics Facility Operations with identifying and requesting maintenance / repair work for facilities.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of experience including undergraduate or graduate experience coordinating university or professional sporting events and game day operations.
  • Supervision of event staff, student employees, or volunteers.
  • Preferred Education & Experience :

  • None
  • Required Licensure / Certification / Specialized Training :

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
  • Preferred Licensure, Certification, and / or Specialized Training :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, internet-based scheduling and Zoom or other virtual meeting software.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Knowledge to troubleshoot, problem solve and recommend improvements to achieve priorities and goals.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and project management techniques.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety rules and regulations applicable to the job.
  • Knowledge of Big 12 and NCAA policies and regulations for athletics operations and event management.
  • Knowledge of compliance, safety guidelines and requirements for all athletic field and athletic equipment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with variety of audiences and decision makers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate orally and in writing with diverse audiences including coaches, staff, student-athletes, sporting-event patrons, visiting teams, vendors and colleagues.
  • Ability to learn and apply new sporting event and facilities technologies and software platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects involving multiple locations simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service with diverse populations during stressful situations.

    Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations) :

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication / conversation / responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Work Environment :

  • Required attendance at all home games of assigned sports.
  • Work is not sedentary and is performed in an office environment, indoor and outdoor arena / field environments, with frequent interruptions and is subject to schedule changes and / or variable work hours.
  • This position requires regular visits to all TCU athletic facilities and frequent interaction with others.
  • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and noxious fumes on occasion.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to loud (live sporting events).
