Department Summary
The Department of History has 33 full-time faculty, approximately 500 undergraduate majors and minors, and more than 100 graduate students. The department has doctoral degrees in United States history, European history, Military history, and Body, Place, Identity history. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI / MSIs and / or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or / and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of History seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
Anticipated courses :
U.S. Surveys to / from 1865 (both online and face-to-face)
Upper-level undergraduate courses in U.S., European, Asian, African, or Latin American History
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree in the discipline or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours directly related to the assigned courses(s).

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in History. Two or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Experience teaching online and the ability to use Canvas.
