As a temporary Laboratory Assistant at IDEXX you will be assisting with some of the many tasks vital to the running of our network of Reference Labs. We receive thousands of clinical samples (blood urine fecal samples) every day from Veterinary Clinics and we run tests on those samples to help veterinarians identify what might be wrong with someones pet. In this role you will be helping to sort tag and prepare veterinary samples for testing. Every sample you help to move along quickly and accurately in the process means we are one step closer to finding out how or why the pet might be sick. In the Parasitology Department to be clear youll be working specifically with the fecal samples we receive. We can learn a lot about a pets health via whats happening in the litter box. In this role youll be assisting with the process of preparing the samples and getting them ready to go under the microscope for analysis. You might be picking up the samples from Sample Management racking up samples adding liquid chemicals restocking treating samples or moving those samples along in the process. Successful candidates in this role are happy with repetitive work processes are able to follow SOPs are excited about a job that is fast-paced science-based and always busy working towards TAT each morning.

Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to :

Currently our greatest need is in our Parasitology Department. This is the area of the lab where the samples are analyzed.

Y ou might be racking up samples adding liquid chemicals restocking treating samples or moving those samples along in the process

You may be restocking supplies such as chemicals or slide trays.

You could be helping to load analyzers with slides of samples.

You might be assisting with inventory counts.

You will be asked to help in out many ways and your help is needed!

Pay & Schedule :

Hourly rates targeting $22 / hour

This is a temporary role running through August 2026. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday 10am - 4pm.

Sometimes during our busy season we ask workers if they would be able to work overtime and stay until the work is complete.

The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.

Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.

What You Will Need to Succeed :

You are able and willing to work the schedule above on the day shift.

A willingness to work with and around veterinary samples including blood urine fecal and biopsies.

You are excited to work in a fast-paced high volume busy work environment. You are able to sit or stand for long periods of time; you do not mind being on your feet and moving throughout the night as needed.

You can read and interpret documents such as safety rules standard operating procedures (SOPs) material safety data sheets (MSDSs) operating and maintenance instructions government rules and technical procedures.

You must have a demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.

You possess strong initiative and follow through with outstanding attention to detail.

You are able to work independently and as a team contributor.

Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab standing and sitting for extended periods of time ability to move or maneuver through various departments around the lab use of hands fingers and arms to handle microscopes pipettes lab instruments and controls occasional need to climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl lift up to 25lb and specific vision ability close color depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a laboratory so there is potential exposure to biohazards agents known to cause zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals.
