Job Description Summary
The plant engineer will provide engineering support for process and project improvements (including reliability) and drive Value Creation Projects (VCP). This position will drive change through manufacturing process and business systems improvements to help operations and maintenance teams achieve operational excellence and the lowest achievable cost base. Responsible for ensuring projects are well designed, executed, completed on time, achieve the design requirements and on budget.
Job Description
- Initiate action to report and prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process, and quality system.
- Control further processing or delivery of non-conforming product until the deficiencies or unsatisfactory condition have been corrected.
- Use the Corrective and Preventative Action program and Internal Audit process to initiate, recommend and resolve product issues or quality system failures.
- Develop a good working relationship with other departments to provide clear, aligned strategic direction to plant personnel through established plant Quality Objectives and other KPI goals, while striving to achieve consistent and standardized operations through the Quality Management System.
- Plant Engineer shall possess leadership and communication skills, practical engineering knowledge, and a track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control, and customer satisfaction for executing CapEx projects.
- Manages capital projects. Responsible for determining justification, scope definition, HSE reviews, Pre-startup Safety Reviews, coordination of implementation with production schedule, startup, commissioning and closure.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace. This includes ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations through developing and / or enforcing safety rules and procedures.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining Preventative Maintenance, Work Orders, parts inventory programs, etc.
- Responsible for the Mechanical Integrity documentation of all machinery specification and performance and upkeep of all maintenance records to capture history of repairs and parts at the equipment / line level.
- Coordinate plant equipment maintenance to meet production demands, to manage overtime, and to reduce costs.
- Review weekly maintenance checklists / logs for all plant machinery / equipment and ensures any deficiencies are addressed.
- Originates MOC requests and provides follow up responses to MOC findings.
- Prepares flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and equipment and control specifications
- Works very closely with Shift Supervisor’s and Operators on a daily basis, and oversees the technical troubleshooting within the Plant.
- Originates fixes for plant problems, applying broad knowledge of plant systems capabilities, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company / plant procedures.
- Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for plant system / equipment repairs, modifications, and replacement / upgrades.
- Review plant data and perform trend analyses to detect present and potential system / equipment problems. Performs root-cause analyses for plant system / equipment failures.
- Continuously investigates and evaluates new ideas, methods, engineering processes, technologies, and materials related to plant operation and recommends improvements.
- Will understand, promote, and adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety principles and the Basic Safety Process and will be accountable for assuring compliance with EHS Policies.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Additional Job Description
Education : BS Engineering or equivalent
Experience : 5+ years
Special Requirements and Independency : Strong mechanical background
Traveling Required :
Physical Requirements : Must be able to lift 50 lbs when necessary, stand, walk, squat, climb ramps and stairs, push and pull, reach at or below waist level and / or overhead, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery alarms).
