Job description
Step Into a Day of Dimensional Confidence

As a Dimensional Metrology CMM Programmer, you’ll build and refine the CMM programs that keep receiving, in‑process, and final inspections running with precision. Your toolkit spans optical comparators, vision systems, functional gages, micrometers, and more. You’ll collaborate closely across departments, communicate clearly, and jump in on additional quality tasks when leadership asks—always with a focus on accuracy, speed, and teamwork.

Core Responsibilities
  • Translate engineering drawings and 3D models into robust, repeatable CMM measurement programs for part verification.
  • When datum structures are missing, devise practical measurement strategies that meet intent and ensure reliable results.
  • Confirm materials and finished product conform to print requirements and applicable specifications.
  • Author new, part‑specific CMM programs and remediate/optimize existing ones for quality and throughput.
  • Perform hands‑on measurements using the right tools for the job (Optical Comparator, Micrometers, Calipers, etc.).
  • Inspect to internal/external specifications and all relevant regulatory expectations.
  • Capture test data and produce formal technical reports using defined templates (FAI, Capability Studies, Gage R&R, etc.).
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming material; initiate NCMR documentation per internal procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement in the metrology lab; draft and maintain controlled lab procedures where needed.
  • Serve as a measurement methods expert for production and quality teams, coaching on technique and best practices.
  • Partner with Quality Engineers/Management to interpret customer and internal standards; recommend smart measurement approaches.
  • Assist with programming for other site inspection assets—Starrett comparators, SmartScope, Keyence—after reasonable training provided by Avalign.
  • Own CAPA actions related to metrology, driving effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Contribute to New Product Introduction by supporting inspection planning and gage design discussions.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to read/interpret blueprints with strong GD&T knowledge and solid inspection methodology.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on CMM programming experience.
  • Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 13485) and regulatory frameworks (21 CFR 820) preferred.
  • Clear, professional communication and collaborative teamwork style.
Who Thrives Here
  • Self‑starters who excel in fast‑moving environments.
  • Quick learners eager to deepen manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Reliable contributors who show up when it counts.
  • Team‑minded problem solvers with an open, positive approach.
  • Planners who can coordinate and execute across functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communicators.
What You Won’t Encounter
  • Career stagnation—ample room to grow and learn.
  • Monotony—high product variety keeps work interesting.
  • Feeling anonymous—tight‑knit teams that support one another.
Tools & Technologies
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Optical Comparator
  • Thread Gauges (GO/NO‑GO)
  • Measurement gauges; calipers and micrometers
  • Vision systems; SmartScope; Keyence; Starrett comparators
Proficiencies That Help You Succeed
  • GD&T
  • Precision measurement and hand metrology
  • Advanced inspection and gage measurement
Rewards & Benefits
  • Competitive pay with a full benefits package.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Paid vacation plus 10 paid holidays annually.
  • Employer‑funded Basic Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Employer‑funded short‑term and long‑term disability.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous employee referral bonuses.
  • Performance‑driven culture that promotes from within and supports advancement.
  • Temperature‑controlled workplace.
  • Community involvement and giving initiatives.
  • Additional resources such as travel assistance and EAP.
