Job description
Site: The General Hospital Corporation

Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.

Do you want the code you write to have global social impact? To work on projects that are directly focused on improving human health? Our research group at Massachusetts General Hospital seeks a talented, motivated, full-time scientific programmer/software developer to join our team. We collaborate with health organizations and research groups around the world to inform health policy by using simulation models to project health outcomes and conduct clinical and public health decision analyses, including cost-effectiveness, probabilistic sensitivity, and value of information analyses. We work on a wide variety of projects, focusing on both infectious diseases (e.g., HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and congenital cytomegalovirus) and non-communicable diseases (e.g., diabetes, health impacts of e-cigarettes/smoking). As a programmer in our group, you will have the opportunity to learn about public health issues while using your software skills to help solve global health problems.

Interested candidates should apply via www.massgeneral.org/careers.

**When applying, please include a cover letter along with your resume. Applications that do not include both components will NOT be considered.**

•Developing and maintaining decision-analytic simulation models across the lifespan for HIV, tuberculosis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, congenital cytomegalovirus, ANCA-associated vasculitis, e-cigarette use, and/or smoking through:
o Coding, debugging, and testing new features
o Optimizing models, with a focus on speed and memory usage
o Developing user interfaces for model input/output
o Consulting with research personnel on model structure and parameterization
• Developing new and existing user interfaces, web apps, and data analysis/visualization tools
• Meeting regularly with research personnel to devise innovative and scientifically appropriate solutions to modeling and data analysis challenges
• Working with research personnel to identify workflow issues and develop technical solutions, such as automated scripts or improved user interfaces
• Serving as a technical liaison for external collaborators and model developers
• Contributing to grant proposals by consulting on technical/programming aspects
• Contributing to and acting as co-author on scientific manuscripts and publications (if interested)
• Producing documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
• Assisting researchers with software-related questions and issues, including tasks related to Linux/Windows system administration and high-performance computing cluster usage
