About the Role

As a Senior Manager of Structural Analysis Engineering at Sierra Space, you will provide leadership across multiple structural analysis disciplines or departments, driving strategic initiatives that contribute to organizational success. You will translate functional plans into operational objectives, manage complex projects, and ensure technical excellence across your organization while developing talent and fostering innovation.

The Senior Manager of Structural Analysis will be responsible for translating functional plans into operational objectives and driving the success of larger projects that contribute to multiple areas of the organization. This role requires a seasoned leader with extensive managerial experience, a proven track record of managing large teams and complex projects, and the ability to interact with executive leadership. The Senior Manager will oversee multiple disciplines or departments, ensuring that operational processes align with strategic objectives and financial plans. This position demands a strong commitment to upholding company values, supporting organizational changes, and fostering a culture of excellence. They possess in-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices, as well as strong financial acumen and budget management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translates functional plans into operational plans; identifies and executes operational initiatives. · Ensures execution in accordance with financial plans; accountable for area budgets.
  • Embodies our culture and great leadership; leads and supports change initiatives.
  • Manages activities of two or more disciplines or a department, providing direct supervision to managers or individual contributors.
  • Drives the strategy and success of larger projects which contribute to multiple areas of the organization.
  • Translates functional plans into operational objectives to deliver results, providing guidance to subordinates.
  • Contributes to financial planning and executes according to plans, goals, and priorities. Accountable for select budgets.
  • Interacts regularly with leadership, including executive level, on cross-functional and/or customer matters requiring the ability to persuade in sensitive and complex situations.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires conceptual thinking and an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Upholds and models company values; holds others accountable to values.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +13 yrs experience). Typically 15+ years of related experience.
  • Industry leading knowledge in in structural analysis.
  • Several years of relevant work experience with a significant portion in a managerial or leadership role. Proven track record of successfully managing large teams and complex projects.
  • Upholds and models company values; ability to hold others accountable to values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to translate functional plans into operational plans; identifies and executes operational initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Experience supporting organizational changes.
  • Ability to apply higher degrees of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Experience leading the development of new principles and concepts in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Proven capability to provide solutions to unusual technical problems requiring high innovation and ingenuity.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and develop long-term technical strategies.
  • Proven experience in developing advanced technological ideas to establish final products of systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in the specific industry or sector of the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with advanced project management tools and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Mastery of advanced engineering software for structural analysis and design (e.g., Nastran, Femap, Ansys).
  • Deep familiarity with industry standards and emerging best practices in structural engineering, including ASME, ASTM, and AISC codes.
  • Extensive experience managing complex, large-scale projects, with proficiency in project management tools like MS Project or Primavera.
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a proven expertise for automation and optimization.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ for developing custom analysis tools and automating workflows.
  • Subject Matter Expert in the knowledge of both linear and non-linear material properties and behavior in aerospace applications. Including metallics, composites and bonded joints and all of the associated failure modes.
  • Subject Matter Expert in fatigue and/or fracture analysis methods and software (e.g. NASGRO, AFGROW) including advanced concepts and applications (EPFM, VCCT, spectrum development, etc.).
  • Expertise in the areas of dynamic analysis including random response, frequency response or transient analysis solutions, with some experience with DMAP or advanced Nastran solution methods.
  • Expertise developing testing and verification strategy in support of overall requirements compliance, and in-depth experience with static, dynamic and life testing and the related data collection methods and subsequent analysis efforts.

Pay Range:

$172,677.00 - $237,451.50

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
