About the Role
The Facilities Manager provides campus-wide leadership and support for maintenance and service operations across the physical plant. This includes oversight of all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, utilities, and grounds systems to ensure a safe, secure, and operational environment. The role collaborates closely with Minnesota Regional workplace strategy and engineering teams to support key stakeholders and execute laboratory space strategy. Responsibilities include design, construction, planning, utilization, business continuity planning, mergers and acquisitions integration, capital spending, expense management, and key performance metrics. The Facilities Manager ensures facilities operations adhere to Boston Scientific's global standards while delivering safe, cost-effective, and high-value solutions for internal business units and employees.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation : At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Support and provide input to the Site Master Plan (SMP) in alignment with the Global Facilities Master Plan (GFMP).
- Supervise, lead, and support the professional growth of facility technicians, service specialists, and vendor leaders. Provide guidance and training that fosters motivation and career development while achieving high-quality business goals.
- Initiate, monitor, and develop cost-effective and justified preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Track and analyze data-driven decisions using business-relevant metrics aligned with Safety, Quality, Service, Sustainability, and Cost objectives.
- Manage and supervise all contracted service vendors through defined scopes of work and accountability to key performance indicators.
- Develop and execute facilities projects in coordination with Minnesota Regional workplace strategy and engineering models for acquisitions, dispositions, renovations, and optimizations in support of the SMP and GFMP.
- Administer operational expenses and capital budgets for all site annual operation plans (AOP), driving efficiency in operating costs, energy conservation, waste reduction, and operational quality.
- Support and participate in design review, value engineering, and construction management for projects as needed.
- Collaborate with Minnesota Regional facility engineering, workplace strategy, and Global Design Guidelines teams for new and renovated facilities, leveraging best practices from Boston Scientific, industry peers, and regulatory authorities.
- Partner with Minnesota Regional facilities engineers and technicians in the management and support of utility systems, including process gases, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Partner with and influence other functions to align with common business goals and long-term strategies.
- Develop and coach staff to drive results and support employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems, modeling proactive adherence for staff.
Required qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 5 years' experience in large-scale facility management, supporting facilities greater than 500,000 sq. ft., employee populations over 1,500, and expense budgets exceeding $20 million.Experience implementing and overseeing computer-based building and asset management systems.Experience in project management and change management for capital projects exceeding $10 million.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.Demonstrated experience leading teams through change.Preferred qualifications :
Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Professional certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).Experience managing laboratory or cleanroom environments within a regulated industry.Familiarity with FDA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements impacting facility operations.Demonstrated success driving sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency programs.Experience leading cross-functional teams or managing multi-site operations.
