Job Title : Recreational Therapy Manager Company : St. Camillus Location : Wauwatosa, WI Job Standards Graduate of an accredited college with a degree in Recreational Therapy.

Must understand the social, psychological and recreational needs of the elderly and accompanying types of disabilities, and must be capable of planning activities accordingly.

Knowledge of administration and budgeting process. Able to work cooperatively with others as part of interdisciplinary care team.

Able to perform all essential job functions without causing harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodations.

Valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Must have automobile available for securing and purchasing program supplies. Exhibit interest in continuous professional growth.

Ability to promote socialization and cooperative relationships with residents, family, staff, and community. Ability to work independently.

Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, as well as ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a variety of people.

Demonstrated proof of time management skills; multi-tasking. Essential Job Functions Adheres to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of St.

Camillus. Understands and supports the Resident / Client Bill of Rights. Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding resident / client and staff safety.

Understands and agrees to comply with the obligations contained in the St. Camillus Code of Conduct. Understands and supports the St.

Camillus Employee Job Behaviors. Ensures the confidentiality of resident / client or staff records is maintained. Ensures work is completed thoroughly and accurately, to minimize errors and rework.

Complies with all required training and participates in all mandatory meetings. Understands and supports the mission, vision and philosophy of St.

Camillus. Plans, organizes and directs a program of activities to meet psycho-social needs of residents, based on various disabilities, and levels of function.

These activities will focus on such goals as socialization, self-esteem, attention span, fine and gross motor skills and intellectual stimulation.

Assesses each resident upon admission or re-admission to ascertain physical and cognitive abilities and social history, as well as personal interests.

This required assessment / social history is electronically submitted into the resident’s medical record, as mandated by state and federal regulations.

Designs and implements a recreational therapy program that is resident-centered, identifying the spiritual, social, recreational, and emotional needs, interests, and capabilities of each resident.

Plan includes group and 1 : 1 sessions. Completes Section F in the Minimum Data Set as required. Ensures that resident care plan addresses any triggered activity or psycho-social issues.

Participates in Total Plan of Care conferences with residents and families as a member of the interdisciplinary care team.

Plans and writes monthly Recreational Therapy calendars which includes all Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, and spiritual activities offered.

These are distributed to each resident, posted in lounge areas and dining room. Provides orientation, directs ,supervises and supports Recreational Therapy Aides.

Is responsible for compliance with all current state and federal regulations in regard to Recreational Therapy programming and documentation.

Orders and purchases all supplies / equipment required for daily activities. This includes utilizing purchase orders when ordering from catalogs or buying supplies from retail stores.

Is responsible for maintenance of all equipment and supplies utilized in group or 1 : 1 Recreational Therapy programs. Is responsible for maintaining safety of all residents as they participate in facility recreation programs, in or out of the facility.

Orders and / or approves all supplies that are ordered from Central Supply, Food Service, or IT departments. Is responsible for hiring of entertainment program providers, reserving Zingsheim Room, and ordering appropriate set-up from Environmental Services Department.

Is responsible for maintaining attendance records for each resident to include participation in Recreational Therapy group and / or 1 : 1 sessions, as well as spiritual functions.

Records are kept in a software program and printable upon request. Submits required Recreational Therapy Quarterly Progress Note for each resident in the AOD Interdisciplinary daily notes .

Schedules and plans all resident excursions outside of the facility. This involves chartering buses, planning for appropriate supervision, purchasing tickets, informing staff and families, etc.

Plans all programs with outside organizations to promote community contacts. This includes intergenerational parties or scout groups, and company holiday visits.

Directs all room calls or 1 : 1 sessions to meet the needs of those individuals confined to bed / room or in need of supplementation to group involvement.

Is responsible for ensuring that residents have access to adaptive equipment such as magnifying glasses, large-print materials, etc.

for independent leisure-time interests. Is responsible for developing and adhering to annual departmental budget. Submits to Accounts Payable check requests / approves payment for ordered supplies, entertainers, bus charters, etc.

Participates in Quality Assurance meetings and provides quarterly report in regard to Recreational Therapy Department monitors or customer service projects.

Maintains all resident activity files and inventory records. Provides departmental staff meetings and house in-services as deemed necessary or appropriate.

Directs department’s decorating of facility for holidays or seasons. Attends Manager meetings as scheduled. Understands, protects and promotes the confidentiality of resident care information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
