Position: Graduate Engineer

Location: In-Office; Austin, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience: Graduate

About Us:
At Civilitude LLC, we are pioneers in land development and infrastructure, driven by our foundational commitment to deliver exceptional technical solutions efficiently and effectively. Our journey began with a core ability to meet tight deadlines, a principle that remains central to our ethos. We have evolved from focusing on K-12 schools and affordable housing to managing a diverse portfolio of public and private projects, guided by a relentless pursuit of excellence and sustainable growth.

We are seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to our mission of shaping communities through innovative civil engineering design and site development permitting strategy on meaningful, community-oriented projects. At Civilitude, we believe in continuous improvement, strategic growth, and adding value to every project. Our team’s dedication to technical expertise and community involvement ensures that we not only meet but exceed expectations.

As a member of our team, you’ll be part of a firm deeply embedded in the Austin community, where our principals actively contribute to city commissions, non-profit boards, and advocate for sustainable growth. If you’re ready to challenge the status quo and help us build a brighter, more equitable future, we invite you to apply and grow with us.

Description

The Graduate Engineer position at Civilitude is an exciting opportunity for engineering graduates to join our team and kickstart their career in civil engineering. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain practical experience in various aspects of civil and land development projects. You will assist in design tasks, project analysis, and documentation, contributing to our commitment to deliver exceptional solutions in the infrastructure industry. Additionally, this role supports the implementation of sidewalks, bikeways, and urban trails through field coordination, schematic markups, general permitting support, and on-site monitoring of compliance with ADA/TAS/PROWAG standards.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their civil engineering career who is eager to learn in the field. You’ll work under the supervision of licensed engineers and alongside general contractors, inspectors, and city project managers to solve real-world challenges that improve community infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of civil engineering designs, including grading plans, drainage systems, and site plans under the mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Participate in project evaluations, including conducting site visits and collecting data for design and planning.
  • Support the preparation of project documentation, reports, and materials needed for permits and regulatory compliance.
  • Learn to use engineering software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and apply it to drafting and design tasks.
  • Contribute to team meetings, sharing insights and observations from project work.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to foster collaborative project development.
  • Stay informed about the latest engineering practices and trends in civil engineering and related fields.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn from constructive feedback.
  • Travel to construction sites to support day-to-day fieldwork.
  • Observe demolition, formwork, and PROWAG-compliant grading operations.
  • Communicate with contractors, property owners, and city staff to ensure clarity on project needs.
  • Support field scoping by marking up base maps under supervision.
  • Assist with gathering data for general permit applications and TCP plans.
  • Help prepare cost estimates and track quantities.
  • Capture field photos using mobile GIS tools and help with daily reporting.
  • Schedule and attend preconstruction and progress meetings with city staff and GCs.
  • Maintain field records, assist with punchlists, and participate in RAS inspections.
  • Review contractor work against plans and specifications under engineer guidance.
  • Help coordinate with city departments (e.g., ATD, ATSD) for striping, signals, and related work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles through coursework and projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software, such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on teamwork.
  • Problem-solving abilities and an analytical mindset.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to take on new legal challenges.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism in all aspects of work.

Benefits

As a member of our team, you will be part of a firm deeply rooted in the Austin community, where our principals actively contribute to city commissions and nonprofit boards, and advocate for sustainable development. If you are ready to challenge the status quo and contribute to a more equitable future, we invite you to apply and grow with us.

Vision for Success:

HELP FIRST

At the heart of everything we do is the desire to help. This is the reason we come to work every single day. We are here to support each other regardless of role, to solve problems together, and to make a real difference in the communities we serve. The work we do impacts lives, and every decision we make ripples out beyond our own team. This is what drives us.

BE TENACIOUS

We are tenacious. We proactively push for the right outcomes, no matter the challenge. Whether it’s delivering outstanding work, improving our processes, or driving innovation within our company, we don’t back down. Tenacity isn’t about perfection; it’s about striving to get things right and pushing for continuous progress. We are committed to doing what is right, day by day.

ALWAYS IMPROVE

We are always improving. Improvement is at the core of our work culture. We aren’t here because we have all the answers — we are here because we want to keep learning. We share knowledge with each other through initiatives like lunch and learns, and every day presents an opportunity to improve through our experiences with our clients, partners, and the greater community. Growth isn’t just a goal, it’s our daily pursuit. And because we are always improving, we recognize that we have come a long way and we confidently celebrate our wins.

BE VERSATILE

We are versatile. Our team's strength lies in our ability to adapt and step into diverse roles. We seek versatility in thinking and culture among our team. When we have a wide range of viewpoints, we can better understand the view of the people we impact. We don’t define ourselves by a single project type or service. We are problem solvers in every sense — whether it's civil engineering, offering unique advice, or helping organizations make better decisions. Our versatility stems from our diverse experiences, which allow us to approach challenges creatively and innovate for the future.

BE INVESTED

We are invested. Being invested goes beyond time and money — it means caring deeply. We started Civilitude to focus on what truly matters: the people. Whether it’s our team, our clients, or our communities, we are committed to making a lasting impact. We believe in offering reliable leadership, empowering others to grow, and ensuring the success of everyone we work with. Our investment in each other and our mission strengthens our collective impact.
