Job description : Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the overall billing cycle within a medical office environment. Duties Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing. Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies. Utilize EMR and EHR systems to manage patient information and billing records efficiently. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to coding or billing inquiries. Ensure that all medical records are accurately documented and maintained in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Key Responsibilities : Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances Set up and manage patient payment plans Answer billing related phone calls Post patient payments accurately and in a timely manner Work and resolve aging reports Contact insurance companies to follow up on claims and denials Assist with special projects related to the billing department as assigned Experience Three (3) years experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other relevant coding systems is essential. Previous experience working with EMR and EHR systems is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology and the healthcare reimbursement process. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary for managing multiple tasks effectively. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals regarding billing matters.
