Summary :
As a Nursing Assistant specializing in Gastrointestinal care, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services to our GI patients. Under the direct supervision of professional nurses, you'll assist with essential tasks in the GI room, ensuring efficient operations and excellent patient care. Your responsibilities will include preparing, maintaining, and cleaning equipment, as well as assisting in invasive endoscopic procedures.
Responsibilities :

- Support physicians and registered nurses during procedures as needed.
- Verify equipment functionality and conduct safety checks.
- Maintain endoscopic equipment and facilitate repairs for broken scopes.
- Collect and deliver specimens while maintaining a sterile environment.
- Assist with patient monitoring and preparation for procedures.
- Participate in in-service training sessions to enhance knowledge on equipment usage.
- Refresh and validate your professional skills through ongoing training opportunities.
- Perform comprehensive reprocessing of endoscopy scopes in accordance with ANSI / AAMI standards, ensuring adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.
- Prepare and sterilize rooms and equipment for procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient anatomy and potential abnormalities impacting procedures.
- Recognize emergent situations during endoscopic procedures and assist effectively.
- Support series of therapeutic interventions such as balloon dilations and stent placements.
- Ensure that special-order supply inventory is reviewed and rooms are fully stocked for next-day procedures.
- Independently complete and document annual competencies and new procedure trainings.
- Adhere to Bloodborne Pathogen classifications and maintain awareness of workplace safety standards.
- Exhibit action orientation, strong collaboration, customer focus, decision-making, and effective communication skills.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
- Succeed in pre-employment / post-job offer health screening examinations and maintain annual health screenings.

High School diploma or equivalent.Experience :
0 - 1 years of experience preferred; previous experience in an Operating Room or Endoscopy Unit is a plus.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications :
BLS certification required.SGNA Certification must be attained within 6 months of hire.Work Schedule : 4 Days - 10 Hours
