Role Summary

The Intelligence Language Specialist plays a pivotal part in national defense by leveraging linguistic skills to gather and analyze foreign language communications.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and oversee signals equipment used in signals intelligence operations

Leverage linguistic skills to identify, categorize, translate, and summarize foreign language communications

Conduct military briefings and provide timely information to relevant authorities

Requirements and Qualifications

Be a U.S. Citizen

Age between 17 and 34 years old

Hold a High School Diploma or GED

Meet Tattoo Guidelines

No major law violations

No medical concerns

Career Advancement

Availability of 42 nationally recognized certifications

Basic Training (10 weeks)

Advanced Individual Training (5-20 weeks)

Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) score of 85 or above (active duty only)

101 ASVAB Score : Skilled Technical (ST)

• can bypass DLAB with an ST score of 129 or above

36-64 weeks of education at the Defense Foreign Language Institute required if Soldier is not fluent in a foreign language
